How long before you can install my roof?

This can vary contingent on weather and availability of materials from local suppliers due to the large number of damaged homes.

Aduddell Residential and Commercial Roofing Inc. can provide a FREE ROOFING QUOTE for your roofing replacement or roofing repair and give you an estimation of a time frame.

Do I really need a new roof?

Hail damage is progressive by nature and can go unnoticed with observation from the ground. You need a trained professional, such as your adjuster and/or an inspector from Aduddell Residential and Commercial Roofing Inc. on your roof to closely inspect for damage. Hail damage can shorten the life expectancy of your roof and eventually develop leaks.

Aduddell Residential and Commercial Roofing Inc. understands that a new roof is a big investment. We want to help you get a quality roof system that will give you the most value long-term. Our Oklahoma Roofing Company specializes in roof replacements throughout Oklahoma, as well as roofing services from our Residential Roofing office in Florida. Do I need attic ventilation?

Yes, a balanced ventilation system is very important for many reasons such as moisture build up which can lead to mold and mildew problems.

Ventilation of the home attic is important for two reasons. During the summer season, excess heat that builds up in the attic during the day results in high energy costs for cooling. As well, moisture produced within the home may move into the attic if ceiling vapor barriers are not used. If this moisture is not exhausted from the attic it can condense and cause insulation and construction materials to deteriorate.

Thus, temperature and moisture control are the major reasons for providing attic ventilation. A roof replacement or roof repair can improve attic ventilation and actually make your home more energy efficient. Contact Aduddell Residential and Commercial Roofing today to request a ventilation analysis.

Do I need to be home while you replace the roof?

There is no need to be there during the installation process.

What is an Impact Resistant shingle?

An impact resistant shingle has met the test criteria to achieve a class rating from 1 to 4 with 1 having the least impact resistance and 4 having the greatest resistance to impact.

Hail damage to asphalt shingles may include severe granule loss, material loss at shingle edges, and penetration. Wind can also create serious roof damage-it is documented that roof material failure was the most widespread type of damage from Hurricane Hugo (Manning, Billy R. and Gary G. Nichols. 1991. “Hugo Lessons Learned.” In Hurricane Hugo One Year Later, Benjamin A. Sill and Peter R. Sparks, Editors. New York: American Society of Civil Engineers).

New shingle products are designed to resist damage from impact and high winds. They meet the most stringent standards for impact resistance (Class 4) set by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), and wind resistance set by UL and the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM International).

Several manufacturers offer asphalt shingles designed to resist the effects of severe weather such as wind and impact from flying debris or hail. Different proprietary methods are used to keep granules attached to the shingle, to prevent shingle breaking during impact, and to keep shingles attached to the sheathing during high winds.

UL 2218 classifies the resistance of roofing products to impact damage. In the test, steel balls are directed at roof samples, and damage is observed. Products that receive a Class 4 rating from UL 2218 are the most resistive to hail damage. Some major insurance companies are offering homeowner premium discounts for the use of roofing products that receive a Class 4 rating.

Are insurance discounts available for homeowners to install an impact resistant shingle on their home?

Yes, some insurance companies do offer a discount. Check with your insurance company for details.

Are composition shingles from a roof tear off recyclable?

Yes, composition shingles can be recycled as a component of street and highway asphalt paving mix.

Recycled roofing has become an important component for the roofing industry. Aduddell Residential and Commercial Roofing Inc. believes in the importance of “going green”, supporting the cause of utilizing roofing products that help the environment.
